She dreams as if it's true...

Shravani Kulkarni

She dreams of a world full of shining stars,
Of a universe of bright colours from afar,
There’s dark and light everywhere she looks,
And she feels the magic of creation.

But when she looks at herself in a mirror,
She is reminded that she’s a part of the same creation,
She learns that the magic lives everywhere,
In herself, the world and the universe.

She dreams of a world full of night time strolls,
Of endless peace and joyful thoughts,
She wanders alone under the moonlit sky,
And thinks that she’s on the right path.

But when she looks at herself in the mirror,
She is reminded that a stroll is not so simple,
She learns that not the whole world is peaceful,
But she can help it, if she decides to.

She dreams of a world full of wealthy people,
Of prosperous and happy lives that they lead,
She wishes for wealth and happiness for them,
And feels that then would everything be complete.

But when she looks at herself in the mirror,
She is reminded of poverty and greed in people,
She learns that truth and honesty is a choice,
And hard work and patience does bring wealth.

She dreams of a world under the surface of the ocean,
A world full of silence apart from the bubbles,
There’s light that supports life everywhere,
And colours that combine make a meaning.

But when she looks at herself in the mirror,
She is reminded this is where all life originated,
She learned that she could thank Lord for this creation,
And let the colours fill her life.

She dreams of a world with a handsome prince charming,
Who would save her from a demon and fight for her honour,
She wishes he would take her to his land far away,
And their love would light a fire in all hearts.

But when she looks at herself in the mirror,
She is reminded that love lives inside herself,
She learns that her love for her family and friends,
Is pure, and is what she looks for in her prince.

She dreams of a big house near the foot of a mountain,
With a lake and trees to decorate the view,
She wishes she could live in the peaceful silence,
In the nature’s lap with birds and animals few.

But when she looks at herself in the mirror,
She is reminded that nature is not always peaceful,
She learns that mother nature can turn disastrous,
If you forget that she deserves respect too.

Her dreams are not very unreal or complicated,
They’re just what all good people wish for.
But still we forget one last thing that is,
Dreams that come true, are those that you work for.

With a heart pure and innocent like that of child,
She decides to set out on a journey of her own,
She lists out her dreams with the blessings of her people,
And feels the cool breeze as she looks to the horizon.
