Eid

BY ALI ASHHAR

Shield of faith fortifies
against the evils of soul;
after thirty days
the divine gives a call
to our elevated persona
as serene breeze from the heaven greets our spirit.
In his service—
we get together with our loved ones
to share our joy and moments with them;
fleeting times changes everything,
yet there are days when you realize
times ripples within the same waves:
on this occasional revelry
we cherish, celebrate
and embrace our lively persona,
we sit together and devour scrumptious sewai
the way we devoured our sinister habits during Ramadan.
The horizon radiates melange of esctasy as we celebrate our transformed aura and all the good we did to prevail over evil;
the path perceived from the month of Ramadan
makes a way for the subsequent months of the year.
With a beaming face we hug each other to greet—
Eid Mubarak!
