Wingword Prize is an online competition to help new emerging poets of India find their place in the vast literary landscape. The competition aims to find the best poems written by people of India. We give them the push to reach a wider audience.
The winners of the competition are published in poetry anthologies and awarded huge prize money so they can fuel their dreams. Throughout their literary journey, they receive assistance from Wingword Association.
Grand Prize: Rs 50,000 + Book Publication
2nd Prize: Rs 30,000
3rd Prize: Rs 20,000
Top 10 Winners receive 10,000 rupees each
100 Commendable Mentions are published in the anthology

Rules
- Only Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin are eligible to participate.
- The competition is open to anyone who is 14 years old and above.
- Poems must be originally written by you.
- We accept poems written in English and Hindi.
- Any length and style of poetry is welcome
- All topics are allowed.
- Entry fee is 1000 rs for one poem, 2000 rs for three poems, 3000 rs for five poems and 5000 rs for ten poems.
- Early deadline is November 30th.
- Beginners are encouraged to participate.
- This is an online writing competition. Performance is not required anywhere.
Judging Criteria
Your poems will be scored on the basis of originality of thought, creativity, form and technique. It is not important for poems to have complex words or rhyme schemes but we value rhythmic qualities in a poem. We are looking for poems that carries a strong impulse behind it.
Certificate of Participation
All participants receive certifications of participation. The certificate is mailed electronically after the announcement of results.
Award Ceremony
Winners and commendable mentions are invited to the prestigious Wingword Poetry Prize award ceremony, due to be held in New Delhi in 2026. It’s not compulsory to attend the ceremony. The winners who are not able to make it to the function will receive their prizes via courier.
