Pete Mullineaux grew up in Bristol, UK – where he had his first poem published, aged 13 in a Macmillan anthology, Poetry & Song and subsequently recorded on ARGO records with music by Ewan McColl and Peggy Seeger. He now lives in Galway, Ireland, where he teaches global issues in schools through poetry and drama. He’s published five collections, most recently We are the Walrus (Salmon 2022) which was featured on the cover of the World Wildlife Fund’s The Circle Magazine. His poetry film ‘Careful what you wish for orangutan’ won the 2023 Home-stage Poetry and Folk in the Environment Competition (pFITE). He’s been interviewed about his work on RTE’s popular arts/culture programme Arena and had a poem included in Poetry Ireland Review’s anniversary issue #100 edited by Paul Muldoon. His poetry has been described by reviewers as “profoundly sensitive” “gorgeous and resonant” and “grimly funny” and comparisons made with Roger McGough, John Clare, John Cooper-Clarke and Pete Seeger: ‘Razor sharp, probing, beautifully written ... a gem’ – Poetry Ireland Review. He was MC/host for the Cuirt International Literature Festival Poetry Slam for a number of years.
Pete's work has been published in Across Latitude & Language by Delhi Poetry Slam, a global anthology of poets celebrating diverse voices from around the world.
