Karishma M P – Delhi Poetry Slam

Karishma M P

Karishma M P is a doctor hailing from Kannur, Kerala, India. While her profession is in medicine, writing has long been a medium for reflection, expression and sharing thoughts. She was first inspired by childhood moments spent listening to her grandfather reading aloud stories to her. His love for literature sparked her interest in storytelling and poetry.

During her medical school, she found poetry as a way to confront the stigma around mental health she witnessed in hospital corridors.

Her poems explore themes of complexities of human emotions, social issues, personal memories and the companionship of her beloved puppies. The poems in this anthology “Silent Screams”, “4th June 2020” and “I want to touch a trillion stars…” are based on the observations of the world around her. They paint the anatomy of a panic attack, havoc created by a cyclone during COVID-19 pandemic and the perseverance to keep chasing dreams despite any hurdles in the path.

When she’s not working or writing, Karishma enjoys listening to music, gardening and going for a stroll on the beach.
