Gopinath is 72 years old retired engineer and worked in Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Bengaluru and finally settled in Bengaluru, his home state. While in career, he wrote several technical articles and presented papers in seminars and conferences. A few years after retirement from service, Covid pandemic caused month long total lockdown that forced people to stay put at home. That was the time Gopinath had to ponder over how to spend free time. He started writing articles for newspapers.
He had a penchant for writing down memorable thoughts that came to him when he meditated every morning. When he collected more than 400 such thoughts on wisdom and life events, he felt like sharing them with the general public. He published his first book titled 'Mystical Musings for the Millennial'. Later he wrote some short stories and then started writing rhyming poems just to pass time. It then became a daily routine.
Till date he has published nine books on different aspects of health care and also an anthology of 101 poems. So far he has written more than 200 poems in English, Hindi and Kannada.
Gopinath was chosen from among thousands of applicants to be part of the World Poetry Project 2025. His poems were subsequently published in Across Latitude & Language, a global anthology showcasing the works of all participants of WPP 2025.
