Your voice – Delhi Poetry Slam

Your voice

By Nitzia Magoo

i miss it
a lot
your voice
when you whispered my name in the middle of the night
when you asked questions with the same curiosity every time
when you confessed your love with the same honesty, day after day

i miss it
but my deepest fear is to forget it
i am trying so hard to hold on to it
but maybe not hard enough
what is it with voices
that they can’t stay with us forever?

your voice
my favorite voice
a voice once so familiar
is getting fainter and fainter
it is getting lost in all the noise

i wonder is there a voice that will not fade away
or are voices only meant to visit
to soothe, cheer, comfort, and
then be gone
and what remains
is noise
