Yes! I am a woman

By Akshita Dalal

Yes!
I am a woman,
who is seen for the body,
and known for the soul.
correction-
who is seen for the body,
but the soul is ignored cause no one wants to know.

you're happy that's great,
but try not to show cause no one wants to know.
you're in pain,
that's sad
but just don't complain.

you're scared,
that's fine,
every woman has faced this sometime,
this too shall pass,
and yes I am a woman waiting for it to pass.

I feel so dirty, it's terrifying, and then it dissolves to guilt, the guilt changes to anger shaking my very soul demanding change and all of it just to sustain.
we women are all screaming,
but it sounds like silence doesn't it.
because you hear what you want to know,
Buy I am a woman,
so my anger
my terror
my guilt
my pain
my sadness
no one wants to know,

when you stare at me like that, as if my body is there just for the show,
my soul cries out under your gaze,
but nobody heard, nobody helps
because they don't want to know.

yes I am a woman who is seen for the body and known for the soul,
correction- who is seen for the body but the soul is ignored cause no one wants to know.
