Wish You Were Here

By Nilantika Banerjee

It is a pleasure to burn
When you are the fire
You should have stayed a bit longer
Cause that's all I desire

Put me in your shoes
Let me take your pain
Cause I know
There will always be more to share

There is a place where there is no fear
I know you eagerly wait for me there
A pool with weeds but the water still clear
I see your shadow everyday in there

I know of your dreams
Even though you did not share
It is not your sufferings
But your dreams that I fear

Soaring so high
I can't see you clear
I so wish to touch you
And whisper in your ear

The lure of a promise and hint of a hope
Was all it took to get you to dope
Love was your poison, you should have known
Chasing that love your destiny was sown

Inheritance of dreams
Have chased me for long
Just assure me for once
I have been somewhat near there.
