Who am I? – Delhi Poetry Slam

Who am I?

By Prapti Goswami

You will find me whole and in pieces,
In pressure cooker and fridges,
You will find me lying unconscious
and in full senses,
At roadside begging in helplessness,
You will find me in the drain,
Crying in agony and pain,
You will find me fixing my clothes,
I don't like the filthy comments of yours,
You will find me in people's words asking
“What she wore?”
I'm less than 6 months to 75+ years old,
You will find me at home around 7 or so—
No, I’m not free to go,
You will find me in speeches on International Women’s Day,
Why can’t I feel safe and empowered
as they say?
You will find me being objectified
in ads, movies and gazes,
I just wanna exist without any of these phases.
Still confused what all these lines said—
Yes, I'm the woman
you eve‑teased and raped...
