Whispers of Lambodari

By Parvathy Biju

The mountain stretched for miles,
Clad in white snow beyond
The green lush of nature veiled the slopes.
In the pleasant blue sky above,
Clouds raced over the peaks,
Yearning to reach the sun’s gaze
As the breeze whispered by.

The cool breath of the valley
Opened its arms to welcome them.
The pines danced in the cold air,
And water streamed over rocks
As if to greet them.

They entered another world, hand in hand,
Their souls merging into one.
As the chill swept through the valley,
They walked
Over soft meadows,
Through icy streams,
Past whispering pines.
Like butterflies, they floated,
Lost in their own world
A world of love, far from pain and agony.

Standing near the stream,
They gazed upon a paradise
A cherished jewel,
Where love and dreams
Blended into one.

Lost in the beauty of the meadows,
He held her close to his heart.
They treaded gently through the grass,
Careful not to harm
Nature’s delicate art.

They journeyed to the waiting Lambodari,
Crossing rocky paths
With aching feet,
Chasing a sliver of happiness.

The cold breeze, mountains, pines,
And the birds joined their journey.
Her world was only him.
Like snow falling from the heavens,
Their souls searched for each other.
She played in the shadows
He found her.
She felt precious, wanted, and loved.

In that paradise, he held her hand,
And she saw another world in his eyes.
But suddenly—
She was dragged into hell.

Now she lives in a world
Of absence and sorrow,
Where her heart can no longer find him.

Some men—of our kind
Rushed from the pines
That once embraced the cold breeze.
Beyond the mountain,
They carried the devil of humanity.

They took him from her.
She begged them to take her soul, too
But they didn’t.

They asked her heart his name,
And bullets answered instead,
Piercing her soul and his heart.

The men of the world
Tried to tear them apart,
And she shattered.
Unable to believe her eyes,
While Lambodari waited for them both.

Her soul searched for him,
But returned alone.
The words of sorrow
Were lost between breaths.

She fell silent
Staring into eyes
That once showed her the world of love.

The pines, the mountains, the streams, and the birds
They fell silent too.
The blue sky turned grey.
Even Lambodari swung in rage.
Red droplets fell from the sky.

She stood in the heavy rain,
Drenched.
Each drop speaking not of love,
But of pain and loss.

But those who stood with her
The ones who held her hands
Never asked her name or kind.

The true men of humanity
Joined her.
In her sorrow,
In her pain,
In her loss.
