What will you be? – Delhi Poetry Slam

What will you be?

By Avyashi Agarwal

“What will you be when you grow up?” they ask me,
But I’m so unsure, there’s so much to see.
How do I choose when life's options won't subside?
Each window I gaze through just pulls me inside.

I stand at life’s intersection, with many choices in sight,
The future ahead is concealed behind the darkness of the night.

Should I be an artist, with ideas so bold,
Or an explorer, with secrets to unfold?
Maybe a novelist, with boundless imagination,
Giving birth to umpteen creations.

A doctor who cures, or a visionary with big dreams,
Or a teacher who shapes how the future seems.

Those voices around me, telling me what I should do,
But a faint plea inside me says — “Do what your heart tells you.”

This world is so vast, with choices infinite,
But I’m tangled in these thoughts and questions that hesitate.

I wonder if I'll ever find my way,
But I'm sure one day I'll seize my destined day.

So I'll keep moving forward, with faith as my guide,
Knowing that somewhere, the answers will reside.

The pieces of life’s puzzle will fall into place,
Maybe it's not one thing, but many that fill my space.

I'll chase my curiosity, and see where it may lead,
And trust my dreams will unfold a future I've yet to read!
