Weeping Hills

By Dr Langthianmung Vualzong

The Hills echoes with afflictions and outrage
The patriotic hill tribes fighting courageously over their adversaries
The patriotic hill tribes mourn, weep sore night and day
The mother fears, "Will this be the last I see my sons and family?"

Behold every nation, the Weeping Hills of Manipur!
The valley's ravenous beast tongues and teeth
swarm to suppress our rights and land,
our forefathers fought and won with blood and tears.
Oh! Must we fight for what our forefathers rightfully owned?Oh! Must the indigenous be tagged foreign and forbidden?Oh! Must you grievously sin that we are ripped naked?

The hill grievously rebels for justice.
The hill tribes behold with sorrow should we be captive in our lands? The hill tribes' women lament, children's memories painted with traumas. The valley ravished in flames caught the innocence and simplicity of the
hill, gnashing and hissing.

Behold every nation, the Weeping Hills of Manipur!
The clouds gloom as smoke clusters below the firmaments.
The blood of tribal daughters and sons splatters
on the hills and valley soil.
Oh! Must we be slain in our hills by our nation!
Oh! Must we be forced into goodbyes?
Oh! Must our children be wanderers from their lands!

How many more lives?
How many more homes are we to lose in ashes?
The youths boil with blood and sweat,
victims of political adultery and greed.
Coming generations will remember.
Long live our rights and land
Our forefathers fought and won with blood and tears.
This Land was given by the sovereign Lord,
The Sovereign Lord is our Strength!
