War of Words

By Anjelin John

Ruins, everything is lost
The home we once knew;
Burnt, and crumbled to pieces.

Families, separated, by the hatred of the outsider
Everyone bears a scar of sin.
Every hand at the neck of their neighbor,
In an attempt to seize the earth,
which belongs to neither.

Blind anger, Endless greed
Hate is the offspring of this union
and their family built on war.

Stop for a moment,
Take a look at what has happened
The place is in ruins,
The flames have made the lives of their victims' history,
Your hand is at the neck of your brother,
Your fellow-being,
the blood of one Father.
And tears of their children
have turned into an endless river.

Burdened, unable to carry the loss.
Scarred for the days to come,
Parents mourn their children
Spouses, their wedding
Siblings, for their first friends
Children, for their parents, their first sight
Friends, for their chosen family.

Death in the air,
Funeral everywhere.
Stop for a moment,
and take a look at what is happening.

Your brother is at the mercy of your gun;
Your weapon of war, the blast of your hatred.
And as you pull the trigger,
Your reflection dies in the mirror,
in the close of an eye,
all because you lost sight,
of who was here,
Your own flesh and blood,
Your brother.

  • Hi there, thanks for posting my work. The title is actually ‘War of Worlds’, not war of words. If it’s possible, please do make the correction.

Thanks again for recognizing my work, I appreciate this.
