By Sumaiyal Basheer
Through shadows deep and nights so long,
She carried burdens, tried to be strong.
Voices whispered “you’ll never succeed,”
While anxiety planted its bitter seed.
Each morning brought a battle new,
Dark thoughts clouding her morning dew.
But somewhere in her heart so bright,
A tiny spark refused to lose its light.
She learned to breathe when storms would rage,
To free herself from her mental cage.
Small steps forward, day by day,
Though sometimes she’d lose her way.
In therapy she found her voice,
Made healing her conscious choice.
Wrote her fears in journals white,
Faced her demons in the night.
Slowly, surely, strength emerged,
As past and present gently merged.
She learned that scars could tell a tale
Of how she bent but didn’t fail.
Started dreaming, dared to hope,
Found new ways to help her cope.
In gardens planted seeds of change,
Watched them grow through sun and rain.
Years passed by, she earned her degree,
Built a life that set her free.
Helped others find their inner light,
Turned her pain to purpose bright.
Now she stands on mountains high,
Head held proud against the sky.
That broken girl from yesterday
Transformed her life in every way.
Still some days the clouds return,
But now she has the strength to learn
That darkness helps the stars to shine,
And growth takes patience, takes its time.
She is not defined by scars of old,
But by the heart that turned to gold.
Through every storm she chose to rise,
Found wisdom in her teary eyes.
A testament to human grace,
She runs now at her own sweet pace.
Her story whispers far and wide:
“Healing comes from deep inside.”
