Titanic Revisited

By Meetu Mishra

O' mighty, seemingly unsinkable Titanic,
We lost you, at cruel hands of destiny-how tragic.
You sailed like queen of the ocean,
On maiden voyage, majestic, beyond dreams,
In class, comfort, pure magic.

The pinnacle of luxury, a superliner,
Proudly commanded by Captain Edward Smith.
You carried the wealthiest in the world,
As well as hundreds of emigrants on board.
None could imagine what fate had in store.

On the dark, dreary night of fourteenth,
When you struck the iceberg,
Death was merciless, life running against time.
Very few could beat misfortune, stay alive,
A disproportionate number left aboard.

Several dreams crushed, stories unfold,
Survivors in deep shock-
What a harrowing experience to recall.
All love, joy, dreams, and happiness
Lost in a moment.

All that remains
Are memories of moments, untold.
