The View by the Lakeside

By Denis Chungkham

Soft beams flicker and bloom into warmth,
On the majestic mirror birds bath and dance,
On its softness, easily boats float breezily,
For repose here, they have come from the busy life.
Friends share, children play, lovers get closer,
In this abode, memories made to last the winter.
The peeping Sun shining, longing to share
His abundance, I smile to feel more.

I almost dead of cold guard myself whole
As cold mist arise from dark watery depths.
The boatmen count their fares, always short.
Children of plenty leaving, the rest work to play,
Lovers gone but tears are here to stay, frozen
In memory colored each day, by new beginnings.
The icy moon illuminates the lonely visage
In the cracked mirror, a friend you will always find.

Both by the lakeside,
The First he flies, sometimes too high,
The Second he tries, sometimes too hard,
Some balance is all, I guess, that is wanting
for the good life.
