The View by the Beach

By Leanne Sebastian

The cemetery by the beach, where the waves do cry
My Grandpa rests, under the open sky
We sit beside his final place
Knowing he's resting after his busy phase.

Seagulls fly,a starfish pops
The Wind whispers of memories that won't stop
We know he's happy with all he needs
Other Grandpas and Grandmas for company and a newspaper to read.

He'd play his game with anyone near
Sharing stories, joy and a laughter so clear
I imagine him, with 13 cards in hand
Playing Rummy in a peaceful land.

The Cemetery by the beach where,
The sun meets the sky and the sea meets the shore
I think of grandpa's hug and his gentle care
Enough to restore my heart, memory galore.

In memory of my Grandpa on his fifth death Anniversary,
