Alarm clock continuously ringing,
Birds outside happily singing.
Repeatedly, mother is calling.
On receiving the call,
Both parents are shouting,
"Hey! Don’t you know you are getting late?"
(Ends the call.)
An 18-year-old boy thinks,
"Why do I receive only hate?"
He gazes outside,
Wishes, “If only I were a bird,
Then everywhere,
My chirping could be heard.”
Packing piles of books in a bag,
Wearing an identity card as a batch tag.
120 students murmuring the result
Of the mock test,
Batch toppers discussing
How they have given their best.
With a few lists in hand,
A teacher entered the classroom.
Upon entering, he pointed and said,
“Stand up, my chubby, cheeky aspiring engineer!”
Shouted, “Are you even eligible
To give this campus broom?”
(Laughter in class.)
He replied, “I have tried, but failed.”
Feeling ashamed,
Thinking what not my parents provide.
Slowly locking himself within four walls,
Felt like not responding or answering any calls.
Searching everywhere,
“Who am I?”
Thoughts provoking,
Someday everyone has to die.
One day, he observed a bird
Trying to fly high and high.
With high resistance from the wind,
The wings of that bird could not comply.
But the bird did not stop trying,
Repeatedly trying, trying, and trying.
The boy yelled, “You can, you can!”
Shouted, “Think as if this wind is just
Like a small high-speed fan!”
“Come on, come on!”
Ultimately, the bird started flying high.
He yelled, “You are truly my saviour!”
From then on, he worked very hard,
Never giving up on his endeavour.
