Truth is that I have loved many people
but you,
you, I have loved even when I didn’t want to.
You are like my mother,
whom I can never hate.
You are like my heart,
which I can never shake.
You are strong, yes,
but also incredibly fragile.
And I cannot stop but think of your childhood.
I had not met you then,
but I know that kid
hurt and lonely,
but so much love to give.
Truth is that I have wanted to walk away.
But you do not deserve that.
Maybe I’ll be
the only person who didn’t walk out on you.
And I will stay
because you were just a child
who thought that, because people abandoned him,
he doesn’t deserve to be loved.
And I will stay
because I was just a child
who left people
before they could leave me.
