The Tale of the Ocean and Sky

By Sampada Thobbi

Whenever I close my eyes
I remember you
I remember us.
Two innocent souls wandering together
Never thinking this might not be forever.
Back then, I was as quite as a midnight sky
You were the ocean waves
Crashing endlessly on every shore, Alive, loud, unafraid to try.
The sky thought,
How beautiful ocean is and how soulful it sounds
The sky never realized,
Moon’s beauty and sun’s blaze also have no bounds
The sky painted love with each setting sun,
But the ocean never knew as it was always on the run.
The sky stayed silent, Hiding love in thunder,
Hoping lightning bolts would make the ocean wonder.
Tears kept rolling down from the sky, meeting the ocean
Unaware that sky was pouring over it every ounce of affection.
Waves kept dancing in the rain
Unable to see the sky’s pain.
This saga went for ages and ages,
Sky unable to meet the ocean as the time turned its pages.
But I know for sure,
The way sky meets the ocean where the world turns gold,
So shall we meet, when time’s grown old.
At the horizon, where all things mend,
Two souls will meet and no need to pretend.
Two young hearts with wiser minds, finally will meet
Storms in the ocean and the sky, in unison will beat.
The beauty of our story gently hides,
In the sky’s shrouded and the ocean’s wandering heart.
One loved in the shadow, the other could not abide,
It is a love that blooms where the opposites collide.
