There’s a kind of friendship that isn’t usually allowed big gestures.
Like showing up at midnight when you need it,
And definitely not the ‘ pack your bags, we’re going to Goa’ kind -just on a whim.
Oh yes we exist, we are called ‘Women’
Not because we don’t want to,
But because we’re told we’re not safe
From creatures called ’Men’.
Then how’s the bond as deep as the ocean?
Well, it all starts with,
‘Okay, tell me everything. Straight from the top.’
And just as you begin, your other friend chimes in,
‘Don’t start it without me.’
Oh yes, that simple it is.
Here, nothing’s too small to matter,
Nothing too pointless to talk about,
And the best part?
She wasn’t there to witness the blush, the admiration,
the rage, the embarrassment or the heart break,
Yet It feels like she’s lived your life right beside you-
Even if she hasn’t seen a single moment with her own eyes.
And she doesn’t need proof.
She just knows!
She just knows.
She knows every single shade of you.
When you like someone but swear you don’t.
When you’re copying your favorite celebrity’s style for the Nth time this month.
When you are faking a smile,
When you have completely zoned out mid- conversation,
Nodding like you are listening
When you are lying to someone and giving her that “play along” look.
When it’s taking every cell in your body to act normal
In front of someone you can’t stand.
When you say ‘I’m okay’ but you’re not,
When an aunt’s comment hit a nerve,
When you get worked up over something no one else seems to get,
When you want to shove your face into the ground
Out of sheer embarrassment,
When it’s all too much to process
and you just want to disappear for a while
And when you are on the verge of a breakdown
But still holding it together for the world
She just knows!
It’s the most chaotically safest land,
Where stress vanishes by just sharing,
Where small moments of happiness
seem worth celebrating,
Where No emotion is too dramatic,
Where repetition of stories is allowed
And people will remember every small details of it,
Where Fights don’t turn too ugly to become a crime scene
For others to enjoy with popcorn
Where people don’t turn your secrets into jokes
in front of others in the name of ‘just having fun’.
It’s the Magical She Pal Land.
