The Mislaid Self

By Soumyajit Mitra

Where are we lost ?
When we're to be in at-home..
But staring at beguiling screens,
Or leaving aside a beautiful gloam ?
Where are we lost ?
When our life with subtle moments,
Reward us without a cause, to
Be blithe, leaving those opponents?

Where are we lost ?
In a charmingly ere network..
That takes away hours
From lives to live and to work?
Where are we lost ?
In peace we are to dearly love,
First the one within us
Then the one who'll truly love!

Where are we lost ?
When we have at least one lauder…
But end up as if trapped, in
A sealed pool of water ?
Where are we lost ?
When we see the latest post.
Of a person doing better than us
Then of course! They only boast.

Where are we lost ?
Whenever we see that person..
Doing well without us,
Teaching our life a lesson?
Where are we lost ?
Whenever expectations are so high..
That even without a pair of wings
We, desire to touch the sky ?

Where are we lost ?
When fighting with our dear selves..
Because ‘they’ are doing better,
And I just might rot on the shelves!
Where are we lost ?
When we look at the screen;
Just to feel insecure looking, at
them who might not be so clean!

Where are we lost ?
Oh Dear! Can we just feel the bliss…
Quietly hugging each other
And giving a comforting kiss?
Where are we lost ?
Oh Dear! In life's rat race
But we aren't gonna be rats
Instead of humans with grace!

Where are we lost ?
With a screen in our drawing room..
Instead of looking at flowers
That has taken a beautiful bloom!
Where are we lost ?
With the remotes that control,
No more machines, but our lives;
Has left us lying, instead of a stroll..

Where are we lost ?
In our own pretty Cells…
Instead of coming to the window
To breathe what in nature dwells!
Where are we lost ?
In our quest for innovation,
To create a world for us..
Having a better notion.

Where are we lost ?
Having mislaid our own self…
Is the reason why, we are to ask
The same question to our own self.
Where are we lost ?
Having spent so much of our time.
To find the care, peace and joy
Which in love & humanity is prime!
