The lull before the storm
I fear more
than the storm itself.
You can brace yourself
against the damage,
the devastation.
But the deafening sound of silence,
the artificial tranquility
I would rather from life eliminate.
It is far beyond
what all my resources
together can cope with.
When the actual storm strikes,
fireworks go off.
Then the dust settles.
But the calm before it
gives an uncanny feeling.
Of trepidation, anxiety, breathlessness.
You brace for the bomb to explode .
It doesn't immediately.
Your senses on high alert.
It's so profound.
So unnatural.
You wonder if it is for real.
It is eerie
it is unsettling.
Here silence reverberates.
