The Invisible Seat of Judgement

By Nidhi Nandrajog

The invisible Seat
The chair of the judgement conceit
High on its lofty tide
Looks down at each one
With falsely boosted pride

The height of wisdom ,deems it impossible
To see through the  pain and struggles
Of the young people ,having so many aspirations
In these present times, full of  opportunities and surplus exposure

The excessive availability
Raises the bar of expectations
For every simple activity
Be it dance, music or literary interactions

Does a child need to play soccer ?
Only to make or deter a goal
Does a child have permission ?
To dance to music ,for pure pleasure and lure

This generation is so lucky !
Is a common statement
There is absolutely no concrete evidence
For such an emphatically made, authentic endorsement

The mind of every child today
Is in a swirl of confusion
Even to quench one’s thirst
There is an option of still, sparkling, mineral

The simplicity of the choice of subjects
Was a luxury experienced in the bygone years
In this era of Liberal Arts, Natural Sciences, and several other  streams
The  young senses ,with an ambitious streak
Are assailed , often to a mind numbing peak

Even to decide upon a vocation
There are counsellors galore
Education grants good business
For the job of manipulation
Of the thinking prowess
Of enthusiastic students
On the path of making their own mark

The  genders in this age, have undergone a revolution
Now  ,instead of a he or she
Wren and Martin finds  itself filling pages
With them, they and we

The spiritual connect through ancient scriptures
Is lost to logic and skepticism
Search for peace is through the subconscious
Faith in God is synonymous to ignorance

The experience in the eyes of  judgement
Fails to see the dilemma  of the youth of today
Eloquently imparting pearls of wisdom
With the oh! Such a subtle touch of condescension
A much  needed guidance
Acquires the garb of superior arrogance

The grey wisdom adorning the lofty throne
Has witnessed struggles, in  easier times
Where laughter caused laughter
The learning lessons were benign

Repeated examples of physical punishment
Being the accepted norm in the bygone past
Cannot refute the present mental turmoil
Caused by social media , technology and the current farce

The previous generation
Rants about the youth’s misbehaviour and follies
By counteracting them ,at every step ,of their undulating path
Instead of supporting the back, with kindness and loving heart

From the vantage point of the judgment seat
Deign to climb down to casual meet
With understanding ,originating from unconditional love
Steer the new generation ,toward happy laughter and innocent fun
