The Heart He Left Behind..

By Mahima K

I loved his eyes, deep brown and endless, like two hidden worlds
drawing me in with quiet secrets.. his heart was the same..
so strong.. carrying so many storms, yet trusting me completely.
No one loved me as he did, so whole and true,
Care, concern, and affection in all he’d pursue.

I’d test his patience, make him angry for fun,
But he’d answer with love, as gentle as the sun.
His reassurances, his time.. all mine to keep..
Busy as he was, he’d soothe me to sleep.
My day began and ended with his name on my lips..
Each moment with him a thousand loving scripts.

I’d spam him my stories, silly and slight..
And he’d listen.. ever patient.. making it all right.
He cared for me like a child.. tender and free,
Loving every scar, each flaw within me.
My name never felt special, until it became Ammulu in his tone,
A melody soft, like coming home.
Even when anger raged like a fierce, wild flame,
His words melted it, as he called my name.

Then came the day I saw him on that cold bed, lying so still, broke me inside.
I felt like a part of me died too. But his face looked peaceful,
like he’d found his place among the stars, left hearts shattered and torn
But in his quiet, a new light was born.
I began my poetry when I first fell for him,
And now it ends, in his memory dim..
