The Happiness Song

By Namrata Singh

Spring hasn’t kissed the blooms,
New leaves haven’t adorned the trees and are yet to find their grooves,
The air is still sharp and dry — winter’s extended, I assume…

But
I am happy
No reason
I am happy
No reason

The moon isn’t its full self to light up the nest of the hornbill,
The dark sky keeps back the light longer still,
And the stars appear farther away, even from atop the hill…

But
I am happy
No reason
I am happy
No reason

There are banks and there are balances,
Moderation demands a cutback on excesses,
There’s no desire to splurge or dig into largesses…

But
I am happy
No reason
I am happy
No reason

There is joy in solitude,
Randomness is an attitude,
Peace is hidden —
I see the seamless connection,
As I find happiness within!

I am happy
No reason
I am happy
No reason
