The Earth Is a Beautiful Place

By Aaditi Kapre

"The earth is a very beautiful place", Captioned the screen before my face.

The reels on insta, I realise,
Are reeling me in real tight,
"Top 10 places to go before you die!"
Glued to my bed, I can only fantasize.

"The earth is a very beautiful place"
Great on the wallpaper I just saved.
Ripples in waves of cerulean blue,
Rippling far to meet skies red-pink hued.
The purple and green lights on a starry night,
Over Ice cold snowflakes, tiny and white,
Yes, I've seen this, I liked, shared, commented, this.
Ofcourse not in real life!

"The earth is a really beautiful place"
Wrote somebody as thought of the day.
Eyes wide shut, think of a lush green meadow,
A lush green meadow under cotton candy skies,
Winds cradling you, not a soul in sight.
The lush green meadow with a river flowing by,
It gurgles sweetly, singing you a rhyme.
The lush green meadow, gently closes your eyes,
Abruptly right then, you hear a phone chime, And just like that....
The lush green meadow, is out your mind.

"The earth is a very beautiful place"
It's just a thing people tend to say.
Work, work, work, I chant nine to five, Likes of a lullaby to lull my life.
Sleep, sleep, sleep, but it's dreamless, I rile in a rut of routines, repressed.

I will go today, I will go tomorrow, I will go later.

"The earth is a really beautiful place"
But it's so far away from my reach today.
