The City Looks Bright

By Himanshi Kapoor

At the top of the building’s height,
The city looks very bright.
The dazzling roads, the crowded malls,
The metro life, the expensive wife.
I ride on the kite,
the city looks bright.

The conquest party.
The expensive friend.
Going to a bar,
staying alone, from their parents very far.
Their clothes are a bit tight,
but the city looks bright.

Soiled hut, infinite but,
The children are groomed in a dirty room.
Saying to parents – come home soon.
Then a car passes out from the narrow street,
a girl gave a butter's sweet.
But it falls on that girl’s feet,
explained the incident to mother, said – is this kind of behaviour they treat?
Mother said – It is all right,
and the city looks bright.

The midnight hour.
The rainy shower.
While turning to the left, I saw one thief,
then we had a conversation in brief.
He was a poor child and his dreams were wild,
said – I’m tired of selling those Valentine roses,
please don’t call the police, instead give me a poison dose.
I begged him by all my force,
asked – will you join my variation course?
Now he is on the path - right,
the city looks very bright.

The room full of dolls,
From the roof, someone falls.
Left a letter behind, written -
"The humans are not kind,
because I have so much grief,
that’s why I’m doing this to get relief".
All the neighbours were frightened.
The city looked brightened.

The car’s noises,
the cycle is the poor's choices.
An endless road and the traffic jams' height,
and then the unnecessary fight.
But the city looks bright.

Only two people in the house,
and the prison for the mouse.
The police are all around,
the fear still stays in modern towns.
The poor child studies with their buddies,
then the family dinner in the candlelight.
But the city looks bright.
