The boy down street

By Suzan Fernandes

The small boy in ragged clothes, seems no one to be
Finds joy in admiring, the nature in keen
Looks at you, with a smile and glee
Nothing to do, and no one to lean.

Walks through the path, with a hope in his heart
Finds a corner, to make a move and start
Someone would see, and set him free
No one but only, the trees and bees.

Making a move, he learns a few things
Fulfilling his hunger, but not every dream
Day after day, he would make you shine
Until you notice, and unfold your blind.

Your growth somewhere, has a bit of his mark
As he polished your shoes, turning his fingers dark
So next time you meet, such a human being
Your smile for him, would create a gentle spark.
