The Battle I Never Chose

By Rohit Raj

Well, now words crumble as I speak,
Like the faith they had could never be restored.
As I lost a battle I never chose to fight,
While people question the sheer dignity of mine.

And after all this, it hurts to see

The ones who forced me,
Took back their guns and flee,
Leaving it all just for me —
Alone, bleeding, with no one to see.

I fought back with what I could,
But in those thoughts, there lived a lie.
For deep inside, I never truly believed —
Enough to really try.

And at the end, they now rise —
Not to ask how am I,
But just to question: why did I lie?
