The Angel of Eternal Rest

By Jasmine Malve

So grim and tame;
My name has earned its fame.
Notorious in every way;
Dark and gloomy is my play.

But believe me when I say,
It is me, not the namesake.
I am rendered after a tiring day —
To believe me otherwise would be unwise.

For I have baffled you with my vicious thoughts,
Seeking advice as you always are;
I tremble you with my cunning tongue —
Alas! Behold the mighty slayer of all.

But I am darker than night,
And I crave your time, ceasing sight.
And I alone offer you solace —
For I truly am your humbled fate.
