The Alternate Ending

By Anubha Mandal

It was a harsh phase of her life,
Where she was attacked
From all the sides.

From the east came all the sorrows,
The west died with all the confusion.
The north was tired from all the tension,
Which led the South towards its downfall.

And once the tiny light started flickering,
The darkness would capture everything.
Her brain, her heart-
Her blood was poisoned
With all the darkness
That no one could see.

Oh, how she wished to end it all!
Scared, alone,
Forever in the dark-
She wonders, in her last breath...

What would have happened
If she hadn't given up?
