That Sweet Blasphemy

By Bijita Sharma

"Where there is love, there is bound to be heartache."

Uttered no words,
Leaves no stain,
Those colors are so dull,
I still feel vague.

"Sufi thinks he sees, and the philosopher thinks he knows."

I know, but I don't see,
He sees but does not know,
Paradox prevailed,
Life unfulfilled.

"Open my mind so I may see the truth."

Amidst the conversation,
Of joy and sorrow,
They are forced to deliver,
The lecture on hatred.

"But I hadn't made any choice; the path has chosen me."

Shot in the dark,
Leaves no mark and comes,
Again, towards you, shattered,
And exhausted.
Gives only a weary smile,
At the end.

- The quotes are taken from the book "The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak."
