That One Word

By Anushka Sinha

Let me introduce you to a word,
Where you desperately want expectation to meet reality.
Something so often heard,
Yet rarely achieved-that's its brutal irony.

Just once, can my soul feel content?
Even if it's a lie,
For my sake, will you pretend?
I promise-I’ll try.

Like a piece of paper, I feel crumbled,
Despite all my zeal, my picture remains humbled.
So my heart screams at its peak,
Shattering the mosaic I alone tried to complete.

That word is the thread of my life,
But maybe it’s time to loosen the tension.
Though it may stir internal strife,
A war between my worth and imagination...

But it's alright as in the end I will survive,
By letting go of that one word "Validation"
