Stranger in Sight

By Vasudha Navani

I was lost in the moment
Caught in the whirlwind of emotions
My eyes befell on a stranger as he came in sight
He stretched his arm to hold my hand tight
To pull me away from the chaos on a stormy night
I asked him the directions
To reach where I wanted to be
I was longing for happiness, I explained earnestly
He came forward to say, ‘Just hold my hand and walk with me’
Sometimes silence speaks and the soul listens
His deep and calm gaze almost touched me inside
Like a knock on the door
Like a letter to an unknown destination
Waiting to be opened and read
Understood and felt
Your conversation brought back buried memories to my awareness
Your voice has healing power
And your thoughts are your channels of energy
That flows abundantly
Live a river providing life to a parched land
Like the wind breathing life into a listless body
You infuse life into my soul
Are you a sage?
Are you a soothsayer?
Are you a healer?
Are you a friend from a long lost world?
I seek to know
I seek to know
Perfect time, imperfect love
A touch, a kiss
A tango of teasing sparks
Tender feelings like humble dew on morning blades getting hushed silently
Time stands still
As if has forgotten it’s course to travel
An experience of the sublime nature of God
Wonder, curiosity and excitement
All come together in this whirlpool of naive feelings
An unexpected rendezvous,
An expected tête-à-tête
Mischievous smile, mysterious ways
Abstract ideas, concrete intent
I bat an eyelid
To wake up to reality
He’s gone
But his ideas are chasing me
Like the raindrops running a race
And gently landing on my face
He caught my attention at the first glance
Impressive style coupled with simplicity
A harbinger of change
Freeing others from bondage
With a message of peace
Bringing others at ease
Your unique uncanniness
Your gifts unbound
Your soul crying out loud
To hear it’s plea to spread joy around
Lost in the Ras Leela
Of your purpose so sound
Tempt me no more
Tempt me no less
Tempt me to the core
To follow your request
You planted a seed in my mind
I hold on to your seed
A seed for kindness
A seed for divine desire
To pursue the mindful conquest
A promise to fulfill
A wound to heal
A page to turn
A goal to yearn
May be we will meet in the realm of divine possibilities
A realm of free choices
Or have we met before
Someday
Somehow
Somewhere
In between
