Still Yours, Somehow

By Siddhi Maithani

I met a guy, adored his smile.
The way he laughed made my heart beguile.
His eyes spoke more than words could say,
His presence lit up my darkest days.

Soon I found out he liked me too,
He proposed within a day or two.
My world shifted with feelings so new,
Like dreams came true out of the blue.

He promised to give me the whole world,
But little did he know—he was my world.
He had already given me everything.

But soon it started raining in this little world,
Storms and winds shattered all I held.
The day was gone—the sun had set,
And night arrived with quiet regret.
I looked up to the sky for a big hug, but found myself in an unfamiliar world.

I thought he was mine and I was his,
But little did I know—it was just fleeting bliss.
The world I loved will shelter another,
While it leaves me with scars too heavy to cover.

I cried, I begged, I tolerated it all,
He fed me sweet lies, just to watch me fall.
My king turned into a distant dream,
Someone I knew, yet not what he seemed.
I asked for love, he gave me blame,
Turned my innocence into silent shame.

Now that he’s gone, I don’t know where I lie
Just somewhere lost between space and time.
His silence spoke more than his eyes could ever,
A goodbye without a single whisper.

Now all that's left is sleepless nights,
With tears filled with love he no longer wipes.
But no matter the distance, no matter the years,
I love him forever, through all of my tears.
