State of mind

By Ritu Rani

When you are in the most content state,
In your mind, when you are at peace,
You willfully embrace all your faults and fate.

Without shying away from your skin
In your roots, when you take immense delight,
You stumble upon this beauty you’ve never seen.

It is only then that you stand the tallest
Among the crowd,
Then only you see clearly,
beyond the darkest clouds.

You feel the sun falling on your face
The view is different yet bigger than before
It was all there, left for you to explore.

You’ve got a story to tell
It is not one ordinary tale,
Not that remarkably grand.

The times you confronted your true self,
So proficiently skinned to the core,
Out unleashed were the demons of yours.

It speaks of the shaken faith and weary soul,
Stitched innumerous times together with
the pieces scattered, torn away by force.

The times when your courage took the falls,
Yet you breathe in free, proud and bold.
It speaks of the times you conquered it all,
Looking as far as you could ever behold.
