Sound of Silence – Delhi Poetry Slam

Sound of Silence

By Zoeb Kamdar

Vacant eyes
Staring
Out the
Window
Time
Stands still.

A sudden
Glimmer
Of fleeting
Memories
A wistful
Smile
As though
Wishing for
Days past
To return.

The head
Cocks
Hearing
Shrill sounds
Of children
Long flown
To make
Their Lives.

Weary bones
Carry
The aging
Body
From
Room to room.

Weary eyes
Look at
The walls
Covered
With family
Long gone.

Creased Hands
Caress
Every piece
Of furniture
Remembering
Those
Who sat there once.

Oh This weary
Journey
Of age
Through
The sounds
Of Silence.

  • Such beautiful words, so deeply true. Every line mirrors our feelings, our longings, and the ache in our hearts. They touched me so deeply and brought tears to my eyes. But at the same time reminded me that memories are to be cherished and will remain with me till the end.
