SOLITUDE – Delhi Poetry Slam

SOLITUDE

By Kalyani Ray

When a toy used to break in childhood,
friends would stop playing,
and the fields would fill with the birds chirping,
the heart would find solace in solitude.

In teenage when the young heart yearned,
special people would be too busy,
all the surroundings would seem too lousy,
the heart would find solace in solitude.

In youth when the feelings blossomed,
emotions got entangled in daily chores,
and it appeared life was not a bed of roses,
the heart found solace in solitude.

Now, that life is forlorn and estranged,
living in the artificial world akin to a digital fortress,
finding everywhere false promises and lies,
the heart finds solace in solitude.
