Silent Language

By Krutika Kulkarni

Her love was blind,
Her love was pure.
But he didn’t respond,
Neither did he care-
Or so, she thought.

They played under the sun,
Jumped in the rain.
Her eyes always shone
When she thought about it through pain.
Yet he was frivolous-
Her eyes remained unread.

She asked, Why?
Oh! Why can't he hear
The symphony of my heart?
Maybe his heart spoke a distinct language-
Or so, she thought.

Then there came a day
When he found his way.
She regretted keeping quiet,
For he was leaving her behind.

Now that it was time to part,
Her heart was broken apart.
He handed over a note
And left without a word.

When the Rose had bloomed,
You tended to it even in the gloom.
You saw only my frolic-
But my kiss went unnoticed.

After reading the piece,
Her heart was at peace.
She didn’t have to be heard-
He knew it without her speaking a word.

So, she decided
And waited till he returned.
The Rose was surrendered
And the Kiss was returned.
