She patiently stood for her turn at the gates of heaven,
Happy out of hell on earth, where web of cruelty was woven.
Abused and humiliated, she met an excruciating death,
With a baby in her womb, wounded and tired, she took her last breath.
She didn’t protest, defend, or show her anger towards her predator,
Divinity and forgiveness defined her gentle nature.
Agonised but not angry, she went into the lap of the river.
Neelkanthan and Sundaran, her friends, called her,
But she just stood there without a quiver.
Standing for hours in the water, sweet memories came flooding by,
She had played under the sun and danced with stars under the azure sky.
In the Silent Valley Park, she was cared for, protected and safe,
On that fateful day, she trusted Man and was led to her grave.
She knocked at his door, and he fed her a pineapple laced with firecrackers,
Why did she meet this fate at the hands of the evil, inhuman attacker?
She was Humanity – the pregnant elephant who pardoned the human race,
Silently, she stood for hours in the river to die in grace.
Welcoming her with open arms, the tear-eyed God gave a faint smile,
“I have perhaps committed the greatest sin, my child!
I created Man - the vilest of the vile!’’
