Shakespeare's Sisters – Delhi Poetry Slam

Shakespeare's Sisters

By DEBJYOTI DAS

 Harsh clapping from the streets
 Caught the little girl's attention,
 Peeping out of the window,
She got glimpse of three ugly women.
 Wearing saree in male countenance,
Thin strip of hair above the upper lip,
 Bristles of hair on chin,
 Stomping down, yelling fouls harshly.
 She observed them,
 In the neighbour's courtyard,
 Cradled the newborn,
 Singing and swaying happily.
 Smiling, they blessed the baby,
 Predicting flourishing future,
 Like the Shakespeare's weird sisters.

  • It is a poem written beautifully in a simple language. The poet expresses the emotions he experiences in his daily life, choosing things from daily life.
