Shadow – Delhi Poetry Slam

Shadow

By Manisha Jain

From where do you get
so much of strength?
Asked her shadow.

She smiled
And looked at the sky
And then on the ground
“From you my dear”
She spoke softly
“You are always by my side”

The shadow bewildered…
'But I do disappear
and leave you alone
in the middle of the night
when darkness is darker than me'..

“Yes” she smiled
you disappear…
But you never leave me
Just hide somewhere inside me…

  • ‘Shadow’ has philosophical and literary value, owing to the perspective (+ or -), which also changes as does the size depending on time of day. This is one deep thought you have created which makes it independent of the perspective as it’s inside.
    Keep shining always 💐💐

  • Beautiful thought. This breaks the cliche “bure vaqt mein apni parcchayi bhi saath cchod deti hai”
We must be grateful for whoever sticks with us in our tough times and should acknowledge that an absence doesn’t always symbolise distance.

  • This gave me chills. It’s such a wonderful piece of writing. Gentle, profound, and oddly comforting to read. The notion that even our ‘shadow’ that we think leaves us in a dark place.It is actually still in us… , it is such a powerful way to speak to our inner strength;
    Masterpiece …🙏🙏
