How long does it take for the wound to become
A scab?
Recoiling from even a gentle touch to
Wanting, itching, urging to be picked on
Demanding attention
The addictiveness of
feeling the rough graze of the fingernails
Wanting to be picked on more and more
Unimaginably hard to remember
That the scab is there to protect and heal
When all I really want to do is
Tear it open
Why?
It’s fun!
