Salvation in Death

By Sagorika Chakraborty

The faith of the few
Over the fear of many
Dims the light
Flickering in the bosom of darkness,
Cascading to unknown depths.
Few become fewer.
God smiles.
The world delves.
A cuckoo crows distantly.
Forlorn, the air winds.
The winds play a soothing melody.
The tresses of nature—bountiful.
The world of men—barren.
Concrete structures: empty.
Glass buildings: cracking.
The forests: flowering.
Meadows: in bloom.
Streams: singing.
Rivers: dancing.
I lift my spirits.
I leave the form—
Relieved of being,
Freed from existing.
The world said dead.
I saw salvation...
