Revelation

By Bhavani Tenneti

I saw the form lying on bed,
I knew not then the look of the dead.
Days passed and as I grew,
Studied life at a closer view.
Mature in years and frame of mind,
Pondered over the past left behind.
A withered look haunted me anew,
Hard as I tried to efface from my view.
I know the look I saw again,
The final repose of a mortal frame.
A sudden revelation unto me came,
And I realized,
That life is worth its name,
But death none can fight.
