Parts of Theseus

By Adriza Pobi

When the parts go bad
Theseus carves himself, scoops himself out
Gives it to the ship
By the end, when you are deciding if it’s the same ship or not
Theseus is left a hollow tin
Theseus sits in a bar and wonders
What it is like to be anyone else in the world
Theseus watches the heroes in movies
Pales in comparison with his amputated hand that make the hull of his ship
He takes his prosthetic to the beer, holds it, brings the prosthetic holding the beer to his lips
He works fine enough
Who is Theseus? Who is the ship? Who is the prosthetic?
How to be the ship or not to be the ship which is sinking no matter what?
Will the ship carry the prosthetic to his grave?
