Outside the window,
I see the stars,
Some bigger than others, but all are far,
I reach out to touch them, but there’s the glass,
Blocking the way, for me to reach the stars.
Outside the window, now it’s all black,
The stars ran away, sucked from the universe,
Never to see another day.
Outside the window, now I’m in the void,
All I see, is what we destroyed.
The stars turned to stardust, and the grills on my window,
Have now turned to rust.
Outside the window, I see a ball of light,
Glowing its last embers, it's trying to fight,
But what is inevitable cannot be avoided.
The light has gone now, the glass broke,
Everything's dark again, there's nothing to see.
Reach for stars they said,
But how can I?
When the stars ran away from me.
