One-sided Love

By Srishti Pandey

All love songs were for you.
What do I listen to now?
Heartbreak music also accompanied me,
When I was consumed by thoughts of you.

You were never truly there,
Only existed in 3D
In reality, in thoughts, in emotions—
It's always been me.

I caressed deeply;
You stepped on my heart,
Unknowingly yet brilliantly—
And that's how my EQ is so high, baby!

I'm nobody to you,
But to me, you're everything.
It sounds cliché, I know, I know...
But that's the only truth for seven years, clearly!

Your smile is embedded in my mind,
Just like your voice
Gives me goosebumps on a summer night
That I recognize at any point in time.

You are all I know.
Your presence used to brighten up my day.
A small glimpse
Is all this heart needed to beat and breathe.

One-sided love is something
I cannot decipher.
Takes you on a love ride,
Where you fall hard, and there's no hand in sight.

I never really got over it.
It's just self-love and self-esteem
That I'm trying to build.
You see, I'm still waiting to meet the one I'm meant to be with.
